A dart board works well for practice. It is thick enough so that the knives don’t go all the way through to the wall. Put a larger piece of plywood behind it, like 4 feet x 4 feet, for when you miss. Also you may want to pull off the wire frame from the front of the dart board.

What good does a carving knife do besides cutting cooked meat? Should I exchange the carving knife for a bread knife and then add a boning knife?

I agree with the previous answers. I would choose a Santoku over a Chef, but since you have a Chef, go with the bread knife. A good serrated blade is crucial.

I just received a couple of beautiful flatware caddies along with the flatware. I couldn’t wait to put them in the flatware drawer. Now I’m noticing that the knives just won’t stay in. The caddy is stainless steal & opened all around. The Knives seem to be the only thing that fits through the openings & slide out. Does anyone have this problem? If so, how did you remedy it?

Go to Wal-Mart and buy a roll of non slip padding for under a small rug, cut to fit the caddy and then you can lay your knives in it.

As long as they are in your checked baggage in a sheath, and not spring loaded your fine. I brought back a 16 in "Rambo" knife. It is a fixed blade.

It’s not just state laws you have to worry about. Most cities also have their own ordinances that will limit the size of the knife you can carry.

My boyfriend has been talking about wanting a good hunting knife, more as a survival tool just in case. What are some good ones?? I saw some that were not that expensive that looked nice and had good reviews, and saw some that are a little pricier also with good reviews. Is it worth it to splurge, or are the less expensive ones nice too? What one specifically would you recommend?

Hard to beat a Buck hunting knife along the lines of their 119 Special. Cost about 50 bucks and has a full tang in case you damage the handle, you still have the tang to hold onto. I’ve never seen this happen but that’s the reason for a full tang knife.

Buck Knives have a great guarantee and pretty much no questions asked. I’ve used mine for about 20 years now and along with my own deer, I have skinned and butchered the rest of the camps deer. So, I’ve cleaned about 130 deer with just that knife.
