I’m buying from Zwillingonline and I’m wondering what Knives to buy. I’m already buying the starter set of three knives(chef, paring, and carving) from the profection series, but I’d like to add one more knife to widen my variety. Should I add a santoku, or a bread knife, or what? I’ll choose top answer. ![]()
What good does a carving knife do besides cutting cooked meat? Should I exchange the carving knife for a bread knife and then add a boning knife?
I agree with the previous answers. I would choose a Santoku over a Chef, but since you have a Chef, go with the bread knife. A good serrated blade is crucial.
what are four good knives for a beginner culinary knife set?

Go with the bread knife. Santoku is a great knife to have, but the chef’s knife will do the same thing to start with.. You can add the santoku later

I come from Bavaria and Zwilling makes a good product. You need a chef’s knife, a boning knife, bread knife and a slender paring knife. This is your starter kit.

bread knife.
the other 3 will everything you will want to do.
Many chefs have a big case of fancy knives but end up using a chefs knife and paring knife to do everything, with a bread knife for…bread.

Im with everyone else. A bread knife is the way to go.
You also might want to pick up a pair of good kitchen shears. Try to get ones that come apart for cleaning.
They do alot of things easier then a knife. I use em for herbs, cutting bacon and butchering a chicken.
